Africa’s richest woman and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Rose of Sharon Foundation, Mrs Folorunsho Alakija has sent a dangerous signal to President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the 2019 Presidential Election.
Alakija, who was a guest speaker at the 2016 Excellence in Leadership Conference organised by Daystar Christian Centre, said apart from Nigerians looking unto God for help, they should also go back to the basics because the nation has done things outside the way of God and everyone is paying the price.
When asked her view on the possibility of Nigeria having a female president, Alakija said Nigerians should wait for the outcome of the American polls and then take a cue from there but added that there is nothing wrong in having a female president saying after all God did not condemn it in the Bible, saying it is about being patient and hardworking.
She said whatever passion God has given to a woman should not just end in the kitchen or the ‘other room’.
She urged Nigerians to change their mindset on the role of women and until then will the country see a female president.
“I see no reason why women should always be deputy governors and not governors. I am not interested in politics but if God calls me to do something for Him in government I can’t ignore His call I have to honour him,” she said.
Earlier at the opening of the three-day conference, the keynote speaker, Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church Worldwide, said to achieve excellence in leadership there should be efficient time management, self-management, task and resource management.
He told participants that it is the outcome of how well that is done that determines how far an individual will go in life adding that there is need for people to set boundaries around their lives so as to realise their purpose for life.
“The Bible says all things are lawful for me but not all things are expedient, efficient self-management is what determines one’s efficiency in life.
‘’Everyone is going to be responsible for the outcome of his life. Self-discipline is a vital key in actualising one’s leadership potential, it is the extra ordinary discipline that makes one to be extra ordinary, time is the most treasured asset that can add value to a life,” he said.
On efficient resource management the cleric said this is important in order to avoid financial embarrassment stressing that as long as individuals engage in those rules, they will continue to maintain relevance in their field of pursuit.
