JUST IN: 30 reportedly wounded as traders clash over closure of market in Onitsha

About thirty people mostly traders were reportedly wounded as some traders tried to resist the Onitsha Bridge Head drug market from being closed without prior notice.
The market was to be closed to enable traders attend the ongoing seminar being conducted by for them by the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria. 
What would have resulted in blood bath was only averted by the swift intervention of the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of Fegge Division of the Nigerian Police Onitsha, Mr. Rabiu Garba.
The DPO swift intervention followed the mobilization of to the market to douse tension by the warring traders.
Speaking to journalists, the DPO said he was not informed before the sudden announcement to close the market on Thursday.
